5 Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Want to know which home-made cleaning products and organizing tricks really work? Here are 5 that I am using this spring to clean my home for the season ahead.

Toilet Paper Rolls for cord organization. I seriously love this one. I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner.

Cord Storage using toilet paper rolls

Green Oven Cleaner – 5 tbsp baking soda, 4 tbsp vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. (Dawn works best) rub it in and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then wipe off. A little bit of elbow grease is needed and you will have to wipe with a damp cloth a few times to get the grit off. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work on the glass so a scraping razor is needed (like what you’d use on a glass stove top).

Orange Peel All Purpose Cleaner – Fill a jar with orange peels, cover with vinegar  Let sit for 2-3 weeks shaking every so often. Strain off orange peels and put liquid gold into a spray bottle. Use in a 2 parts water – 1 part vinegar ration for every day cleaning and disinfecting full strength for the really nasty areas.

Dress up an old photo frame using fabric, ribbons and a hot glue gun to organize barrettes and elastics.

Hair clip organization

Last but not least is something I haven’t used yet, but I definitely will! Mabel’s Labels Scan and Store labels. What a brilliant idea. I’ll be using them as I stash away the winter gear. Heck I might even pick up some for my cross-country move!

I’d love to hear some of your cleaning or organizing tips.

  1. We have multiple junk drawers in our house with the one in the kitchen being the worst. I ended up getting little container to put in the drawer with a container each serving a purpose. Nails and thumbtacks and such in one, batteries in another, Earphones and elastics in another. Made the junk drawer much more organized and easy to find stuff.

  2. Thanks for this stunning article !!!
