Best Apple Crisp

I love this easy and delicious recipe for Apple Crisp. Make it Christmas morning and call it breakfast. Since it has oatmeal and apples I’d say it qualifies.

What you’ll need

  • 5 cups sliced apples
  • 2/3 – 3/4 cup brown sugar (more is always better)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg (you can up this to 3/4 if you like extra cinnamon)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×9 pan. Layer sliced apples in the greased pan. Mix together all the other ingredients until a loose dough forms then crumble evenly over top of the apples. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Serve hot topped with vanilla ice cream or on its own.

Exactly what I’m looking for… I’ve got a counter full of apples, and am hankering for an apple crisp (not to mention it’s about 10 degrees outside where I am… so an apple crisp for dessert, or breakfast, or a snack in the afternoon…..). I wanted something simple and good, and this after much searching totally fits the bill. Thanks!

  2. I had to leave you another comment to tell you, this was A-mazing! I used what I had (it was too cold to go out and get anything I might have missed), and I also love that your recipe doesn’t call for adding extra sugar to the apples.  Seriously, this is my new go to apple crisp.  I served it with whipped cream with a little vanilla bean in it, and no extra sugar.  Perfection on a super cold day.  Thank you!
