If you are a mom to child with eczema, or you are dealing with it yourself, you know how frustrating it is trying to treat it. Each doctor you see prescribes lotions that at best mask the symptoms but never take care of the eczema completely. Many of them don’t solve the issue of the itch or have cortisone that isn’t good for prolonged use. You’ve probably tried dietary changes, different laundry soaps, home remedies and religiously applying lotions daily too.
I have dealt with varying levels of eczema for just about as long as I have been a parent. When my second daughter was about 3 months old we noticed a dry patch behind her ears that was diagnosed as eczema. From there the patches of Dry skin spread under her arms, behind her knees and in the crooks of her elbows. When my last daughter not only got eczema but got a more persistent case I did my best to keep her comfortable while we treated flares, and did all I could to prevent them, but even our best wasn’t good enough. Luckily she outgrew eczema for the most part and only patches of dry skin show up on her face in winter.
While my other two daughters had very visible breakouts of eczema my oldest daughter has had a less obvious, but more persistent case. Her issue – painfully dry legs that itch then get irritated from her scratching and then she breaks out in a rash which leads to more itching. Every cream we have tried has done little to help even with regular application and home remedies have proved useless. After 3 or 4 days of no relief she would get frustrated, stop using the treatment and the cycle would start again. We have tried to treat her, unsuccessfully, for at least two years and it wasn’t until last week that we started to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I was sent some samples of the new POLYSPORIN®ECZEMA ESSENTIALS™ as part of a blogger campaign with Mom Central and asked to share our experience with the product. I expected it to help, after all we are a Polysporin family and have used their line of products for years. What I didn’t expect was for it to work so well. Perhaps its the combination of the body wash and cream used together that is it’s secret to success, but what ever it is for the first time in years my daughter has had relief. After the first couple of washes my daughter didn’t notice a marked difference, but by use number three she started to itch less and now with almost 2 weeks of use under her belt she tells me she definitely notices a difference. Just going by the fact that she hasn’t missed using it once since it’s arrived speaks volumes.
I was sent each of the following products:
