My Lazy Day Secret

I admit it.  I have lazy days.

Yes, there are days when I don’t feel like cooking a meal from scratch or heading to the grocery store, some days even easy recipes are out.  On those days when I’m busy or tired or just want a meal that everyone will eat without complaint I pull out some ground beef and some Hamburger Helper Lasagna.  I don’t know what it is about the combination of noodles, beef and sauce but when I cook it my family can’t get enough.  In fact I know that Hamburger Helper nights  require a double batch.  I toss in some frozen corn or some peas to add a bit of veggies, salad and buns on the side if we have them and everyone spends more time eating then talking for a change and I can catch my breath.

So when the great people over at Life Made Delicious told me about their latest offer I did a little dance of joy. For a limited time in Quebec you can get free Le Sieur or Green Giant canned vegetables with the purchase of one Hamburger Helper Dinner kit. (341mL or 398 mL can) or in the rest of Canada  receive one free bag of 750g Green Giant frozen vegetables.  Look for the specially marked packages in your grocers shelves.

When you are trying to feed a family free is always a good thing and from frozen is a great way to add in a serving of vegetables without too much effort.  In fact I never am without a big bag of frozen corn. I add it to my Chili, Stews, soups and even use it when I make quesadillas.

How do you like your Hamburger Helper?

  1. Actually, this might sound silly, but I _love_ mayo, especially Japanese mayo. I like swirling mayo on top of Hamburger Helper.k

I’ve also entered this contest using @freshsavings for Twitter and Fresh Savings Canada on Facebook follows.

  2. I usually add grated cheese on top and let it melt, depends on what kind I am having! If no cheese,I leave it as is.. The Lasagna is my fav..I remember there used to be a pizza one that was the yummiest..but cant get that anymore..:(

  3. I haven’t had Hamburger Helper since moving out of my Mom’s house (many, many years ago) not sure why I don’t make it for my family. Looks like I’ll be making Hamburger Helper in the future.

  4. usually don’t add anything to Hamburger Helper; if I do
it would be leftover Chcken (chunked)or leftover veggies such as
    peas.

  6. I generally only add onions to the hamburger as it is frying. Looking over the other comments though, there is much more I could do to spice up my Hamburger Helper!

  7. I have never added anything except for the directions on the box, never thought to
add anything, going to try it!

  8. I try to add red pepper, onions and whatever other veggie that will go with the hamburger helper that I am making that evening. It is a qreat way to get veggies into your childs tummy without them giving you a really tough time

  9. Our favourite Hamburger Helper is Beef Noodle. I add sliced carrots and a can of corn to spice it up a bit. It tastes really good and gives us all a serving of vegetables.
