Chant it as if you are in a conga line, because that’s how I have been doing it.
Last weekend I opened my house to family and a few new friends to celebrate the addition of a toddler line to the Lego Duplo family. To help get in the proper building frame of mind we went all out on Lego decorations, Lego snacks and best of all fun new Lego Duplo sets to play with.
For Lego decorations I set my kids to work building Lego centerpieces, we also made Lego streamers using colored craft paper and covered each of the drink boxes in the same craft paper. Primary colors were used to mimic some of the colors in a standard Lego set. I also put up a poster with some fun Lego Duplo Facts too, because everyone likes fun trivia right?
Seeing as how it was a mid afternoon party I kept snacks simple and made Lego Duplo sized sandwiches and crackers along with chips and other easy to grab and then go play snacks. The table I set in primary colors as well with bright plates, cups and napkins and each place setting has a fun bunch of Lego themed coloring and activity pages as well as a fresh pack of Crayola crayons. I just love brand new boxes of crayons!
In between snacking coloring and playing a fun game with the wee ones the kids had fun exploring and building with the new Lego Duplo sets. Each new kit includes slightly bigger bricks, all new colors and decorations which are perfect for little ones just getting to know Lego. We had kids aged 1.5 to 8 years old and between the bunch of them much fun was had.
The kids kept busy playing with each of the three new Toddler Line products which include:
- Toddler Build and Play Cubes
- Toddler Build and Pull Along
- Toddler Starter Building Set
As a thank you for attending and as prizes for playing pin the duck on the poster we gave away LEGO DUPLO Bricks and Books which incorporate the fun of building characters to go along to a story. As parting gifts the guests were also given a LEGO DUPLO Brick Box or the Toddler Starter Set so that they could continue to enjoy Lego Duplo in their own homes.
It was very interesting to find out that the parents that came didn’t think of Lego Duplo as a product for toddlers. My kids have had them as long as I can remember because they were the one toy that I could leave out for my older kids to play with without worrying about them being a choking hazard for the smallest of my crew. Even now with kids almost 5 and up there isn’t one toy in my house that gets played with as often as Lego Duplo. It’s also the first toy I set out when we have little ones come to visit. If you are looking for a toy that really grows along with your toddler then I can’t say enough good things about getting them started early with the new Toddler Build and play sets!
You can pick them up at your favourite toy retailer then throw a Lego play date party of your own!
