My Baby's Beat – iPhone App Review

If you are expecting a new baby there is nothing more fun at your weekly doctors appointments then getting the chance to listen in to hear the babies heartbeat.  I loved hearing that rapid dah dum knowing that let me know that everything was going OK with the baby. When I was pregnant, especially with my last 2 babies if I could have listened to their heartbeat on a regular basis without worry that I’d hurt them a would have. I even went as far as buying a doppler with my last pregnancy, using it sparingly.

Not my belly.

It’s amazing how quickly technology changes. If I were to have a baby now I wouldn’t have to worry about getting any additional equipment to listen to my babies heartbeat in my third trimester. I could simply use my iPhone and My Baby’s Beat!

My Baby’s Beat is a unique, state-of-the-art, iPhone application that monitors your fetus’s heartbeat, using only the iPhone’s microphone and regular headphones (without microphone).  You can listen, record and share your babies heart beat with your friends via email or Facebook.  Personalize the application by adding in your name, baby’s nick name, and your due date.

I am not pregnant so I couldn’t give this a good test run but I suspect it works like a stethoscope.  Check out the YouTube video below for a demonstation of how it works.

For best results I suggest you follow all instructions closely and try it in a quiet room without outside noises. The application is recommended for use between weeks 30 and 42, but some have had success earlier. I almost wish I could have another baby just to give this a try, almost.  It sounds like a great app and much better then what was available when I was having babies.  If your give it a try, stop by after and leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

My Baby’s Beat is available in the i-Tunes store for $3.99.
