Once-in-a-lifetime Canadian Experiences

It’s well known that Canada has an abundance of things to do, places to go and sights to see. While some of these include some of the usual tourist type activities, there are some other, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to be experienced in this beautiful country.

Rocky Mountains-1

  1. Go hiking in the Rockies

The Rocky Mountains are one of the most impressive mountain ranges in the world. Their exquisite is simply breath-taking and it’s something that needs to be seen to be believed. With an abundance of rugged mountains, snow-capped peaks, stunning valleys and cerulean lakes, you will be amazed at the beauty that surrounds you. One of the best ways to explore the Canadian Rockies is to book a specialized tour, as this will ensure that you miss none of the highlights.

  1. Take a boat trip to Niagara Falls

A boat trip to Niagara Falls is an experience you will never forget! Feel the mist of the crashing water as you view the majestic Falls in all their glory. There are several tour operators who can bring you up close and personal to this natural wonder and booking a place on any of the boats is simple and straightforward to do. Once you’ve seen the falls, take the opportunity to dry off and enjoy the indoor view from a Four Star Niagara Falls Hotel.

  1. See the Northern Lights

If this isn’t on your Bucket List, then it should be! The Northern Lights are the awe-inspiring spectacle of colored lights of the aurora borealis that illuminate the night skies over northern Canada. Created when solar particles combine with certain gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, the beauty of the Northern Lights has to be experienced to be believed. While you can view the Lights any time between September and April, it is recommended to view them from late November to March, if possible.

  1. Glacier Walk

The Glacier Skywalk is a feat of structural engineering which allows you to experience the breath-taking awesomeness of the alpine and glacial views that surround you. This cliff-side walkway stretches 35 meters out over the impressive Sunwapta Canyon and is constructed from glass so that you get the full panoramic 360-degree view of your surroundings. The walkway also protects you from a 918-foot drop!

  1. Watch the icebergs

Iceberg viewing has become a very popular tourist experience in Canada. It is hard to comprehend the sheer size of these features especially when you consider that 90% of the iceberg is hidden from view below the surface! Along the north and east coasts of Canada there are a multitude of ancient icebergs, some of which are over 10,000 years old! You can choose to go on a boat tour, paddle in a sea kayak or perhaps take a hike along the Canadian coastline to view this spectacular natural phenomenon.

When you visit Canada, think outside of the box when it comes to arranging things to do. There are so many experiences which you can soak up in this beautiful and magical part of the world, that it would be a shame not to.

  1. The only one I have not done is the boat trip to Niagra Falls, the rest are all amazing, we used to hike in the rockies every year til I got sick, even 5 day hikes. The Northern Lights is the best show on earth 🙂

    1. I am really looking forward to seeing northern lights again. It’s something I only saw once, and very faintly, when in Quebec. Amazing about the hiking. Where was your favourite place to hike? I’d love to take the kids on day trips into the Rockies.
