How to get perfect tea

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
― C.S. Lewis

For as long as I remember, a cup of tea has played a very important role in my life. It is provides warmth on a cold day, it soothes a sore throat, it provides the opportunity to catch up with an old friend and it provides the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day. In order to satisfy these needs, one must obtain the ‘perfect’ cup of tea. The correct technique for this art depends on a combination of personal preference and traditions that you are accustom to.

Brewing the perfect cup of tea is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Choose your tea – There are many different types of tea on the market and different ways to brew it. All tea comes from theCamellia sinensis plant. The type of tea is defined by the way it was processed. The less oxidation creates white teas where as a tea leaf that is heavily oxidize creates a black tea. Each tea has its own unique flavour and different health benefits and choosing the tea that provides you with the best tea drinking experience is a personal opinion.

2. Water Selection – Water makes up 98% of the composition of your tea. If you use the perfect tea leaf, but less than perfect water, you will be disappointed with the result. Clean, filtered water provides a cleaner tasting tea allowing the full flavour of the tea-leaf to be exposed.

3. Steep your tea – Before fully understanding the art of tea, I believed that boiling water, a tea bag and mug made a great cup oftea. Boy was I wrong! There is much debate over the best brewing technique but everyone agrees that all teas are not created equal. Each tea has a unique brewing temperature and brewing time to fully release the flavours of the leaves.

GE Tea Fridge

In the past few years, the hot beverage market has made huge strides in creating convenient, easy to use hot beverage makers. Unfortunately, these machines focus on the art of making coffee, leaving tea making something less than desired. GE heard the tea drinkers cry and created the GE Café French Door Refrigerator with Hot Water Dispenser.

This is the first refrigerator of its kind that allows you to dispense 10 ounces of perfectly filtered hot water in minutes! No longer do you have to use boiling water and a thermometer to ensure the perfect cup of tea. Instead, select your desired temperature (between 32-85 degrees Celsius) or chose one of four pre-programmed settings and enjoy your ‘perfect’ cup of tea.  With the modern look of stainless steel and the convenience of the french doors the GE Café French Door Refrigerator with Hot Water Dispenser is the perfect fridge for any family.

“Consumers may have had to sacrifice the optimal tea experience in the past because their microwave or stove wouldn’t give them a precise hot water temperature,” said Philippe Meyersohn, GM Marketing and Training, GE Appliances. “Now within minutes they can be sipping their favourite tea, just as if it were brewed by an expert, while they read the news. Through ingenuity and innovation, GE Appliances answers real-life needs with next generation features and industry-first products.”
