Prairie Naturals Lean Whey Protein Powder Review

As most of you know a couple of months ago I embarked on a personal journey to get fit and hopefully lose weight along the way. As part or my workout plan the people behind Ugifit suggested that I support my strength work by drinking a protein shake post workout to help muscles grow and to repair body tissue. The first brand that came to mind was Prairie Naturals.

Prairie Naturals is a privately owned, family run Canadian business based out of British Columbia and their products are sold through hundreds of retails stores across Canada. Prairie Naturals produces quality nutritional supplements, natural hair and natural body care products as well as being exclusive distributors of the best-selling ReCleanse™ product line and the EcoFlask stainless steel beverage container. I have been lucky enough to try out a full range of their products over the last year, from natural hair care to products that helped me get my groove back (*wink), and each has been top-notch! I am also able to pick them up locally in my health food store which makes life that much easier.

I was sent the Lean Whey Chocolate Supreme to try out and all I have to say is YUM! It makes a smoothy seem sinful. Prairie Naturals Lean Whey protein powder is super easy to use, mixes up really well (no lumps!) and tastes great. I even have my Hubby drinking it and he’s a hard sell on most things. Prairie Natural Protein powders are sugar-free, contain high quality protein, have no trans fats and are low carb. It will help you build muscle, boost energy and comes in 3 flavors (Chocolate Supreme, Tropical Vanilla Cream, Blueberry Cream) as well as unflavored.

This is my post workout shake: Nugglemama’s Shimmy Shake

Protein Shake
  • 1 banana
  • a handful of fresh strawberries
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup 1 % milk or water
  • 2 scoops Lean Whey Chocolate Mocha Protein powder from Prairie Naturals
Add fruit, yogurt, and ice cubes to blender. Shake milk and Lean Whey Protein power in a separate container then add to blender. Blend and enjoy.
I do notice that I have less muscle fatigue the next day since starting the Lean whey. I’m not sure if it’s that I am getting more muscle and feeling the workout less or if it’s the shakes but I do know that they are good for me so they have been added to the regime. I have a feeling that I will notice the benefits the more fit I get and the more intense the workouts get. I am very happy with the Lean Whey Protein and will be buying more when I run out.
