Kids eyewear

If there is one thing I know, it’s kids glasses. Before I was a mom to a handful of kids with glasses I spent over a decade as an optician helping kids pick out their first pair of glasses. This past year I jumped back into the industry part-time and I have to say, working with kids is one part of my job I really love. There isn’t anything as rewarding as watching a little ones reaction when they see clearly for the first time.

The challenge in this job is finding frames that children like that, that also meet all their needs. Children’s glasses not only have to look good, they need to be able to stay on their faces and stand up to the abuse that kids inevitably put them through.

This summer, Safilo unveiled their all-new KIDS BY SAFILO eyewear collection. Taking a medical-scientific approach to design and using advanced technologies and materials, KIDS BY SAFILO optical frames were created to better respond to the unmet needs in the industry for the 0-8 year old age group. These frames are the ideal blend of innovation and comfort that perfectly matches children’s needs and, at the same time, their parents’ expectations!

Childrens' glasses

The new KIDS BY SAFILO eyewear line has the following in mind when providing superior products for your children:

  • SAFETY: frames are flexible, safe, and free from sharp surfaces and edges.
  • COMFORT and FITTING: frames are lightweight and stable, thanks to the presence of a lower bridge and to the special design of the temples with a horizontal bend. Moreover, thanks to the enhanced design of the front, the lenses cover the children’s entire field of vision, ensuring effective correction.
  • RESISTANCE: frames are made with flexible, stable and washable materials to prevent them from becoming deformed or weakened.
  • AESTHETICS: frames are discreet on the child’s face, almost invisible, especially for the youngest ones.

KIDS BY SAFILO optical frames are “100% made in Italy” and developed in light, safe and bio-based materials: soft rubber moulded over the internal temple and bridge, as well as high-performance polymers for the front and the temples. These bio-compatible, hypoallergenic, non-toxic and washable materials guarantee the safety of the product and keep the comfort of the child in mind.

Whether your kids are playing, jumping or running you can rest assured that KIDS BY SAFILO eyeglasses have been put through the ringer by a team of kid testers. They pushed the frames to the limit, testing their resistance, security and stability.

Did you know?

One in every six children worldwide has visual defects, and approximately 15% of these refractive errors require prompt correction. For this reason, Safilo developed a unique collection designed to respond to the complex needs of children’s eyewear, thereby improving children’s quality of vision and in turn, their healthy development.

Luisa Delgado, CEO of Safilo, comments:

“The idea to look more deeply into children’s eyewear came from our employees, as 75% of them are women, many of them mothers or grandmothers. During an employee meeting, these women asked me if we could create eyewear for children across the world, and tell the story to mothers that the eyewear was made by the hands of mothers for their children. We all connected in this mission to really understand the needs of children and their parents. In hopes to earn their confidence, in addition to our unique eyewear expertise, we also integrated advice from a specialized doctor. Today our project also reflects our new company approach – a shared sense of purpose within the entire company, based on a deep understanding of the functional and emotional needs of our clients. In this case, the children of the world, and their parents.”

The KIDS BY SAFILO eyewear collection is produced and distributed by Safilo Group at independent eyewear specialists as of June 2015.

  1. yes, she had glasses for a month then the end of school year she got hit with a soccer ball ,they broke and she needs a new pair now , s this would be so great to win , thanks 🙂

  2. My son is 7 so the 7-8 male category, in green. My son had spiderman framed glasses for a slight astigmatism which stopped him from seeing the board clearly, then he lost them. His older sister found them in the school office all scratched up 🙁 he needs new ones asap before school starts again.

  3. Yes, our daughter sees an ophthalmologist once a year and visits an orthoptist clinic every six weeks, she wears glasses with a prescription strength of 7.5 and has strabismus. She may need surgery this year, but definitely needs a new pair of glasses this October 🙂 She’s three and has worn glasses since 8 months old.

  4. I would choose the female glasses , 4 to 6 years in purple with the ballerina. My granddaughter would love them!

  5. I have taken my 5 year old son for his annual eye exam and more. He wears glasses and has to be checked more than once a year. He has to wear a patch too.

  6. I would get my son the frames in the boys 4-6 year old category that are light blue and red with a car on the rims. 🙂
