Book review by Geneviève Tremblay
The cave holds several secrets. All of the twelve know that, especially Talisman, a powerful witch who wishes to rule over the world the same way the Ancients did – using the magic of crystals. Only this time, unlike the Ancients, she will not allow the world to end in ice nor in fire. All of the eleven witches left must find the last missing crystal of the leader Aubergine’s necklace and repair it. As well as fixing Aubergine’s necklace, they must find the skell (a card) of the House Crystal Keep, one of the most powerful families in the time of the Ancients, and return the card to their place of rest in the Crystal Caverns. Aubergine and Talisman’s groups each strive to reach the caverns before the other. Who will get through first? Find out in Secrets of the Lost Caves.
I have waited a long time for this book, the second in the Potluck Yarn Trilogy, to come out and now that it has I can honestly say it was worth the wait! It has a beautiful and intriguing story line, well thought out plot and interesting characters. What more could anyone want?
Cheryl Potter, the author, has surprised me with how she handled the second book in the series of the Potluck Yarn trilogy. I absolutely fell in love with the characters; all of them hold a special place in my heart. I love the way she wrote her book. The words seem woven with care and precision. The characters were quite easy to relate to and I found that I fell in tune with Little Teal and Skye, both of them being the girls closest to my age. They are both headstrong but kind individuals, at least that is the impression I got from them. This book holds an amazing journey, one that made me feel happy once I finished the book.
I suggest Secrets of the Lost Caves for those who want a slightly challenging read. This is a good story with which to curl up beside the fireplace and delve into an enticing adventure!
