There aren’t enough long weekends in the summer so when they do come around we try to make them count. Our long weekends always include family fun, BBQ’ing with great Alberta beef, and as little time spent doing the busy work that keeps a house running smoothly. Even Mom gets a break during the long weekend, that means stocking up with long weekend essentials before the weekend hits.
I’ve written about Flipp in the past and it continues to be my favourite, and most used app for streamlining any shopping experience, especially pre-long weekend shopping trips. Flipp has proven itself to be an essential app that helps me save money and time with every shopping trip. The free location-based app delivers the latest flyers from your favourite stores right to your pocket. Plus, with Flipp’s in-app shopping list and coupon matching features, you can quickly and easily find the very best deals on whatever you need. You can also store all your loyalty cards in the app! No more digging through your purse or wallet for that missing Airmiles card.
This past long weekend I headed out to the stores early to stock up on all the essentials for my favourite BBQ side dish plus all the essentials so I wouldn’t have to make a trip mid weekend. I used the app to make my list, which helped me source the stores that had those items on special (great if you are price matching!). I was also able to Flipp through the current flyer highlighting other items that I wanted to add to the list because they were on special. Lastly before heading out I checked out the coupons section to see if anything I was planning on buying had a coupon available.
Flipp is easy, quick and great for budgeting! It really is a must-have FREE circular shopping app that makes saving on groceries (and other items) a breeze! Maximize your savings by downloading the Flipp app which is available in iTunes and Google Play.
Since you are here, I’ll share with you my favourite way to BBQ potatoes.
BBQ’ed Potatoes and Zucchini
- 4 cups baby potatoes
- 2 small zucchinis
- one medium onion
- 6 cloves garlic (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp parsley
- 2-3 tbsp butter
Wash all produce. Cut baby potatoes in half, slice zucchini in rounds, coarsely chop up onion and place on large piece of tinfoil. Top with a few pats of butter, salt and pepper to taste, sprinkle on garlic powder or whole garlic cloves and parsley and fold up up into one or two foil packets. Place on med-low heat in BBQ for 30-40 minutes. Carefully open up package once cooked and enjoy!
