The Reason I Want To Be Better And Do Better – Heart of Haiti

Many years ago I was introduced to a woman while visiting my Dad one weekend. Little did I know, what a huge impact she would have in my life. A few years after that initial meeting I got a call saying, “Guess what we’re getting married!” Never once did I question my Dad’s choice and through the years have come to love her as I do a Mother. She whipped me into shape in the kitchen, helped me through a difficult summer and when my own Mother died she was there for me 1000% dealing with some of the tough things I couldn’t and  being there to lean on when I needed a shoulder to cry on. She gave me two of the greatest gifts, sisters and has stuck by my Dad for better, but mostly worst. I could go on and on waxing poetic about how fabulous she is truth be told. I still call her up whenever I need to talk about babies, husbands or life in general and I know that she is always there for me, a woman that has helped me far more then I am sure she even knows.

She is part of the reason that I want to be one of those women who helps others. She is why I give back and when I have the chance I purchase products that help others. That is why when Clever Girls Collective was looking for bloggers to share their space to highlight Heart of Haiti I jumped at the chance.

Heart of Haiti is a collection of one of a kind art pieces created from recycled materials. It is based on the concept of trade not aid, allowing the artisans to provide a sustainable income for their families. I can’t think of anything better. Helping people and saving the earth.
For this Mother’s Day I have a special discount code you can use when you purchase a gift from Macy’s Heart of Haiti collection. Use CLEVERGIRLS to get 15% off Heart of Haiti and Rwanda Path to Peace items  from May 3rd to May 8th, 2011.
I was selected for this very special “CleverHaiti” opportunity by Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity. All opinions are my own.
