Update on the #LegoDuplo 30 Days of Play Challenge

We are more than halfway through the Today’s Parent 30 Days of Play Challenge and I thought it would be a great time to update you on our progress.  I admit at first I was a bit worried about committing to doing this challenge for the full 30 days.  I worried that it would be too much work, that my daughter would get bored, that I would get bored or that one, or heaven forbid all of us would get sick.  It is flu season after all.  I am happy to report that so far, as of day 18, that none of my worries have come true.

In fact the opposite has happened.  Each morning we get up, eat our breakfast and then my daughter settles in to play with her Lego Duplo sometimes asking me what the challenge is, sometimes just going off into her own imagination.  Some days she ask me to join in with her fun and other days she is happy to abscond with my iPod touch to see the challenges and then later take pictures of her creations.  My daughter also never fails to tackle the first older sibling that comes home from school to show off what she made which inevitably leads to the big kids coming up with their own versions of the Lego Duplo challenges each day.  It’s been a hugely successful family activity.  We have always loved Lego Dulpo, but having a special box in our living room (normally a toy free space), had turned out to be an incentive to play everyday!

It’s not too late for you to join in the fun, or even submit your own play challenge for a chance to win a trip for four to the Legoland park of your choice and be featured in the calendar.  Just visit Today’s Parent every day to see what fun you and your wee one can get into!  Today’s challenge was an obstacle course.  I think we went a little “Hunger Games” with this one.  What do you think?

Just for fun below are the pictures from all the challenges we have completed.  I added in the ones that my other kids have done too since they have gotten really creative with Lego Duplo lately.  Even more so then usual.  It seems the Today’s Parent 30 Days to Play challenge not only inspired me and my 4-year-old to play more, but the other kids too!  I would love to know if you are participating in the 30 Days to Play Challenge.

  1. These are cute pictures. They are having a blast. My 4 year-old and 10 year-old are enjoying this challenge: they play each time after dinner. It’s part of their new schedule.. They love it and me too.
